Medical Supply Manufacturing

In today’s world, the fastest growing market for medical devices is found in the lesser and least developed nations of the world. While they are relatively small markets presently, they hold immense potential.

To date, close to 30% of the world’s healthcare expenditures are in the developing world and this percentage is continuously growing. Despite that, over 95% of the medical equipment is imported. There is typically no local production, and when there is, it is controlled by multinational corporations, often for export.

We believe that the key to ameliorating these problems is in strategic approach to financing and coordination of local infrastructure aimed to provide locally produced, cost-effective solutions for diagnosis or treatment of a variety of medical conditions.

In this particular project we have assessed a territory plagued by shortages of an essential medical device. The local communities are faced with daily uncertainty involving backorders, timeliness of deliveries and rising costs.
VEIAG A&E Team have established that the market demand for this product in region currently stands at 3–3.5 million units per annum. It was proposed that in the case where VEIAG was to realize local production of this product and implement efficient processes along the supply chain, this locally produced product would be 20–25% cheaper than its current price on the market. It would be produced at a quality acceptable to customers and delivered at highly competitive cost with reliable delivery times.

Agricultural Development

Agricultural growth is a key factor in reducing hunger and poverty, and improving the sustainability of rural livelihoods in the face of increasing social, economic and physical challenges. It also plays a strategic role in the process of economic development of many underdeveloped nations.

Exploring the agricultural potential is essential element in addressing the agricultural growth.

VEIAG A&E team has accessed a particular region with a population of 7–8 million people residing on a relatively small territory. The region is considered to be depressed with a high rate of unemployment. Furthermore, this area lacks one of the most basic agricultural products, even though the climate, water, and soil quality is ideal for its production. Nevertheless, the produce is imported from far away.

In coordination with a group of specialists, the VEIAG assessment crew has visited the territory to conduct a thorough analysis. Following lengthy and comprehensive investigations, the specialists have concluded that the production of this agri-product within the territory would decrease its sales cost by 20–25%, while also drastically increasing employment by creating additional workplaces.

Livestock Farming

Livestock production constitutes an essential component of the agricultural economy of developing countries. The contribution of livestock goes beyond direct food production to include multipurpose uses such as skins, fuel, fiber, and fertilizer, as well as capital accumulation. Furthermore, it is closely linked to the social and cultural lives of millions of resource-deprived farmers for whom animal ownership ensures varying degrees of sustainable farming and economic stability.

Careful analysis and assessment are required so that livestock development strategies can be reoriented towards better use of local resources, contribute more effectively to food security, improve the living standards of poor farmers and ensure sustainable animal agriculture development.

Our A&E team has explored the feasibility, management and training aspects of the proposed project and have suggested a plan of action which is based on a reform and improvement of CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations)

As part of the project VEIAG will reshape the current business model centered on operating a single facility with over 1500 units of cattle by creating multiple entities under common management, each responsible for 100–150 units of cattle. This will effectively target and solve the following challenges: manure management, veterinary/sanitary control and misuse and overuse of antibiotics and growth promotants. The benefits will include: increased assimilative capacity of land within economic transport distances, increased soil fertility, prevention of eutrophication of nearby water resources, controlled safety enforceability, early detection and localization of disease outbreaks, minimizing effects on native soil bacteria and many more.
